Chairman of the Regent Group Mohammad Shahed has been put on a 28-day remand in four fraud cases — seven days for each case — lodged with Uttara Paschim and Uttara Purba police stations against him.
Metropolitan Magistrate Rajesh Chowdhury issued the instructions after four independent investigating officers (IO) provided him with a 40-day remand appeal before the tribunal today.
On the other side, in three cases lodged with Uttar Paschim and Purba police stations, the managing director of Regent Company, Masud Parvez, has been put on a 21-day remand.
Shahed was also seen to be convicted in two weapons cases filed with police station Uttara Paschim.
The magistrate issued the order after two different IO applications were lodged to have him detained in the event.
