On the occasion of National Road Safety Day 2020, the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges organized a virtual event at the auditorium of the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA).
In the event of an accident to rescue victims, the Prime Minister asked people not to take laws into their own hands and discard their attitude to harass drivers and attack cars, as it invites more accidents in several instances.
She indicated that the Zebra crossings should be used for pedestrians. “As these are effective for everyone, everybody must obey traffic laws.”
Sheikh Hasina asked drivers to shun the mentality to overtake another vehicle on roads and highways as it causes accidents in many cases. Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader presided over the function, while Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan was connected through the virtual platform.
The welcome speech was delivered by Md Nazrul Islam, Secretary of the Division of Road Transport and Highways.
