Four hundred stranded tourists returned to Teknaf St. Martin in Cox’s Bazar by trawler and ship four days later.On Sunday (October 25) afternoon,one and a half hundred tourists reached Teknaf and Shahparirdwip jetty in five service boats.
At around 3.30 pm, another 250 tourists set sail for Cox’s Bazar on the Karnafuli Express.However, the ship is likely to arrive at around 10 pm.One and a half hundred people have returned to the island.
In this regard, St. Martin’s Island UP Chairman Nur Ahmed said that 150 tourists trapped in five trawlers returned to Teknaf on Sunday afternoon.
The rest are leaving the island for Cox’s Bazar by Karnafuli Express in the afternoon. Besides, the residents of the island stranded in Teknaf have also returned.
Teknaf Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Saiful Islam said boats have been allowed to operate on the Teknaf-Saint Martin waterway as there is no weather warning. The rest of the tourists stranded on the island left for Cox’s Bazar by Karnafuli Express.
